Hologram at the Moroccan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2025
Challenge
On the occasion of the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale, the Kingdom of Morocco aimed to propose an architectural vision that was both contemporary, committed and deeply rooted in its cultural heritage. The challenge was significant: to stand out on the international scene with a proposal that reconciled ancestral know-how, technological innovation and environmental challenges. The Moroccan pavilion was supposed to respond to the theme “Intelligent people. Natural. Artificial. Collective.” by promoting a sustainable approach, while promoting Moroccan architectural identity beyond its borders.

Concept
The answer to this challenge took the form of a unique installation: a double-sided wall animated by 24 holographic propellers. On the one hand, raw and organic materials from traditional earthen architecture — adobe, local stone, mud bricks — evoke heritage and roots. On the other hand, a futuristic facade made up of luminous propellers projects moving images representing Moroccan artisans in full swing, between memory and modernity. This device creates an immersive experience where the visitor navigates between materiality and virtuality, in a poetic dialogue between past and future.

Résultat
The installation met with a very favorable response, both from the public and from critics. The Moroccan pavilion was praised for its ability to combine technological innovation and the development of traditional knowledge. This hybrid work highlighted the richness of Moroccan crafts while stressing the importance of its transmission in the digital age. Thanks to this daring staging, Morocco has established itself as a visionary cultural player, capable of bringing a strong, contemporary and committed architectural discourse to the international artistic scene.
